Lablinks That’s me messed up the Well Close Square lab results – have to tell them that we never received the sample again….
Lablinks – what we will cover • What it is • What it isn’t • How to do it • How not to do it • Problems • …and solutions • Remember, this involves everyone: receptionists, admin staff, doctors, nurses – and we all have to do it right
Lablinks – plus points • Easy to use • …by everybody • Straightforward • Never goes wrong • Intuitive • Saves trees • Makes the tea • Kind to animals
Lablinks – minus points • Slow • Clunky • Complicated ….well, not quite…
Open Lablinks from the utilities menu Hey! This looks interesting!
Daybook buttons Get daybook filter …use this to see part or all of the whole list of results
Daybook buttons Find a patient’s result …if it has not been posted yet, it may still have an annotation or action
Daybook buttons Collect results and match results …done by Admin
Daybook buttons Look at outstanding actions
Daybook buttons Support and config – do not touch!
Daybook buttons Help!
Open Lablinks from the utilities menu …then open the daybook
The daybook shows the results …but I don’t want to see all the results, just mine… …so I need to filter…
Daybook filter • Assigned to me • All GP’s • Not viewed by me • Show all • Click “Search”
Daybook results Click on the top result…
First result… This result needs an annotation tag or an action tag
Annotation or action? • Annotation • Writes annotation to notes • No action required • Tell patient normal • Doctor discuss next appointment • Action • Somebody has to do something
Annotate a result • F3 to annotate “tell pt normal” • F4 to annotate “dr discuss next appt”
Choosing an action • F12 to take an action • …then click one • Reception will take action
Post it – but where to? • The “Clinical” tab should say what was written on the form… • …which should be the current problem the result is posted to
F2 to post… …under that patient’s current problem
Dealing with the actions • Action tags are completed by receptionists mainly • Doctors or nurses can store actions here too if they wish (F10 or F11) • F6 requests “make appt dr” • F7 requests “make appt nurse” • F8 requests “dr phone pt” • F9 asks for paper notes
Taking action • All results must have an annotation tag or an action tag • Annotated results are just posted to the notes • Action tags MUST be actioned according to the action required
OK lets process some actions Hey! This sounds even more interesting, girls!
Action process filter Usually we want them all…
Completing an action Click on the action when it is done Then click “OK” when tasks complete …
What not to do • No annotation or action tag = no posting… • …So if you don’t look at your results you will get lots of hassle from receptionists (guaranteed) • Don’t fiddle with the config options (on pain of death) • Take care with the macros – make sure they have done what you meant them to do
Problems • Remembering to do it Set aside a special time each day – when would you have looked at the paper results?
Problems • Remembering to do it • What if someone is on holiday? Each doctor will have to look at his assigned doctor’s results but only actioned or annotated results will be posted (but they will be available in the daybook) Only actioned or annotated results are posted – otherwise they just sit in the daybook Admin staff can post the results (docs can do it if they want) All actions and annotations are written in the notes
Problems • Remembering to do it • What if someone is on holiday? How do we remember to look at another doctor’s results? (The new dynamic intranet may provide the answer)
Problems • The result has been sent to the wrong doctor It can be redirected to the appropriate person • Remembering to do it • What if someone is on holiday?
Problems • Remembering to do it • What if someone is on holiday • The result has been sent to the wrong doctor • …or should have been sent to the nurse • Nurse 1 • Nurse 2 • Nurse 3
Problems • Nurse 1 is • Nurse 2 is • Nurse 3 is • Nurse 4 is • Nurse 5 is • Nurse 6 is • Nurse 7 is • Nurse 8 is • Nurse 9 is
