  1. SUPPLEMENTAL FIGURE S4.Growth in BHI over 12 days at 4°C of cold-adapted L. monocytogenes strain 10403S and selected null mutants, using a starting inoculum of 108 CFU/ml. Cold-adapted cells grown at 4°C for day 43 were transferred into pre-chilled (4°C) BHI to a starting inoculum of 108 CFU/ml. Log CFU growth between days 0 and 12 (shown on Y axis) represent the increase in CFU/ml from day 0 to day 12 (i.e., log CFU/ml at day 12 – log CFU/ml at day 0).Data represent three independent experiments; error bars indicate standard deviation.Statistical analysis using a mixed effects model with the factor “experiment” as a blocking factor showed that the factor strain (parent strain or mutant strains) had no significant effect on growth in log CFU/ml, indicating that none of the mutant strains showed growth significantly different from the parent strain.
