Work Environment At L&S Computers, due the daily needs and delivery deadlines to customers, the environment was very demanding and tense. “Having the opportunity to access the customer needs, develop and propose solutions, test, and implement gave me a well rounded experience and exposure to the world of IT.”
Project Objectives Job Title: IT Systems Technician • Work involved recommending appropriate technologies and solutions to meet user requirements. • Work involved meeting vendors to assess available resources for providing equipment. • Provided beginning training to end-users.
Overall Experiences &Lessons Learned • As an intern at L&S Computers, I was able to exemplify my leadership skills by taking the initiative on projects and daily tasks. I enhanced my analytical skills through troubleshooting to solve complicated hardware and software problems. I received a dramatic increase in my written and oral communication skills by interacting and understanding the customers’ needs. Working in a professional and challenging environment afforded me the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to succeed in corporate America.
Challenges Faced & Training • As an intern, it was difficult applying classroom lessons learned to real word situations. I was in a hardware environment with software background. I had to receive a lot of on the job and informal training; especially in the networking area. I had to do a lot of online researching to complete many given task enabling me to become self motivated. I also had to learn how to manage my given task without taking on too many assignments.
