Combined Sciences Center CSU-Pueblo Observatory Site Status Report http://mynatt.no-ip.info/blogsVersion 1.0 Slides by Dave Mynatt
What is the Combined Sciences Center? The CSC is a Colorado Tax Exempt group located at the CSU-Pueblo Observatory site dedicated to obtaining, installing, and maintaining scientific equipment related to and complementary of space observation, cosmic events, terrestrial weather, seismic events, earth sciences and radio propagation. The project integrates math, science, research activity including reading and writing, technology, and social responsibility within global setting.
Mission Expose participants to new technology and science. Build technical systems to motivate gifted junior high, high school, and college students in the building, maintaining and research systems at the center. Investigate and experiment with related systems to foster understanding and appreciation for science and technical systems philosophy. Act as an umbrella management and control organization to facilitate and coordinate research between the individual scientific elements.
Using these systems… CSC Terrestrial Weather station Ionospheric Disturbance Station Seismometer 2GHz local and NCDXF Beaconing systems Visual Space Observatory Distributed Computing Network (PVM) Space Satellite Ground Station Radio Telescope Software Design and analysis Radio JOVE project WEFax systems and imagery
And these Facilities… ...four 40ft telescope masts to mount all HF radio and weather systems, plus an X-Rail to position and coordinate 4-dish system for the UHF Space Radio, a 10m dish to provide CubeSat ground station coverage, a specialized antenna for SID, and a ground seismometer station... CSC
The Systems will use… …software to collect data from each system and store it on separate but locally maintained computers, and then using a heterogeneous computing platform to connect all computers a specialized algorithm and analysis matrix will compare and contrast reported data and establish Correlations and Relationships between the measurements to prove relationships exist. CSC
Money and Materials… In addition to in-kind donations, volunteers, expert technical assistance from local enthusiasts, clubs and professionals, and financial donations from local businesses, we will apply to other granting institutions. CSC
Students and participants will… • Build technical components; • Use a distributed computing platform to connect local and remote platforms; • Act as a satellite ground station; • Share data with other research and interested groups; • Participate in educational outreach programs; • Provide learning opportunities to motivated students that are not available in any other environment; • Reach out to similar groups; • Establish income systems to support ongoing operations. CSC
