Vocabulary • private school: a school not run by government but by a group of individuals, organization, or church • guardian: someone who takes care of someone else • homeless: someone who doesn’t have a home • insurance: someone pay private company; that company will pay doctor if needed • mortgage: loan people borrow to pay for house • predicament: difficult or unpleasant situation, like a problem
Vocabulary • projects: area of city that is not in good condition, run down, homes built for poor people • GPA: score that indicates a student’s average grade • laundromat: place you go to wash and dry your clothes • instincts: a behavior that isn’t learned; a natural behavior that makes you act a certain way or do certain things • dreadful: very bad • hiccup: a sound from your throat after you eat or drink too quickly
Vocabulary • chaos: complete disorder; a situation when events are not controlled by anything • rookie: first-year player in the professional league • collide: to hit something with strong force; to crash together • adjuster: worker for insurance company, decides how much money to give customer if anything is stolen or damaged • investigate: to find out the facts • evicted: to be taken out of your house
