This factor is used to measure the basic knowledge, comprehension and judgment, and specific vocational training required to perform the duties. SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE UEDN UEDN
Basic knowledge" refers to the language, mathematical and other requirements of the work, such as the ability to read diagrams and drawings. "Comprehension and judgment" refers to the need to understand instructions and principles and to make judgments. "A set of relevant principles and methods" used in the Comprehension and Judgment element refers to the general facts and rules governing the working of a machine or systems or the properties of substances and materials, and the systematic and regular ways of achieving desired results, e.g., electrical wiring systems, metal machining, farm management, internal combustion engines. The treasury board secretariat (TBS) in its Classification System and Delegation of Authority Policy included Guidelines on Work Description Writing that identified a new rationalized work description (WD) writing format. The Guidelines comply with the Canadian Human Rights Act (CHRA) requirement to describe work in relation to the four criteria of Skill, Effort, Responsibility and Working Conditions. DND developed its own Work Description Writing Guide as a tool designed to assist managers in writing civilian WDs within DND/CF in the new format meets the legislative requirements of Canadian Human Rights Act where the assessment of work is based on the composite of Skill Effort Responsibility Working Conditions meets the requirements of the TBS Guidelines on Work Description Writing.
