ComCor Tech ~ History • Organization formed in 1987 • Primary business was coating sales • Owners such as MOC, Crowley and MTL requested our services in coating application • Started with soft coatings such as Magnakote and Biokote • Coating market progressed to the development of surface tolerant epoxies.
ComCor Tech ~ What We Do! • Developed relationship with coating companies such as Jotun, International, Devoe, Sigma, Sherwin Williams and Royal Chemical • Present systems are mostly 100% solid coatings. • We utilize both electric and diesel blasting systems. • Owners asked us to prepare surfaces utilizing water and slurry blasting. • We found German technology to be the most advanced.
Slurry blasting is a technique for preparing surfaces with a mixture of fresh water and an abrasive. We utilize pressurized water to propel abrasives. Surfaces will be to a SA-2.5 equivalent. Hi-Pressure water blasting will first utilize mechanical scalers to knock off hard scale areas. Surfaces are then blasted at 500 BAR, standard will be to a WJ-2 on all breakdown areas. Surface Preparation Alternatives
ELECTRIC BLASTERS RATED AT 500 BAR. WE CAN PLACE THIS EQUIPMENT ANYWHERE ON THE VESSEL TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE TANKS.
THE AIRLESS SPRAY PUMPS SHOWN ARE DESIGNED FOR APPLICATION OF 100% SOLID EPOXIES.
Program Approach • Use the correct equipment. A combination of pressure and flow to achieve surface standards required. • ComCor has experience in removing oil, mud and other contaminants efficiently prior to blasting. • Electric blasters are rated for efficient production. -continued-
Program Approach • Triple head mechanical scalers are used where necessary. • Slurry blasting utilized to profile existing coating systems. • Diesel blasters equipped with nitrogen splitter utilized in shipyard and also on some projects underway.
Technical Approach • Working relationship with paint companies allows ComCor to devise paint specifications for efficient production and excellent results. • Pictures supplied of prepared tanks step by step of the procedure. • Infrared thermometer and relative humidity readings taken to ensure proper conditions for coating application. • Explosive gas meter and properly sized ventillators are utilized to ensure safe working environments.
