Kiva Fellows Program Vision Statement The Kiva Fellows Program ignites passion in our fellows to engage in microfinance and empowers them be a voice for Kiva and our field partners. Fellows gain in-field microfinance experience, and an appreciation of the innovative and purposeful grassroots efforts that our network of MFIs implement through their work on Kiva. Kiva motivates our fellows to seek ways that they can add value to our partnerships and to Kiva. We challenge them to view microfinance both in its successes and struggles from the ground up.
Key Stakeholders of the Kiva Fellow Kiva’s Borrowers and Lenders: Your journal entries, borrower profiles and blog entries will help build the rich content that bridges our borrowers and lenders and makes Kiva’s model work! Kiva’s Field Partners (aka Host MFIs): Your work in the field will be directed towards helping your host microfinance institution (MFI) to maximize and leverage its partnership with Kiva. Kiva’s Team: As a Kiva Fellow, your work will help support and serve the Kiva.org product, mission and continual improvement.

Impact of the Kiva Fellows Program • KF Coverage at Field Partners • 44 MFIs have hosted Kiva Fellows since the beginning • ~ 50% of our portfolio (if you take out closed and inactive partners) • 94% of MFIs that have had a Kiva Fellow request to have another • Journaling • Kiva Fellows have written 33% of all journals on the site • 5,604 journals written by Kiva Fellows compared to 16,650 journals total • Borrower Profiles • 1,828 borrower profiles by Kiva Fellows (**Not a precise stat, as fellows usually write the biz profiles but give to a Kiva Coordinator to post on the site) • ~50,000 borrower profiles by all
How Can You Help? • Kiva Fellows are unpaid, volunteer positions. Each of us are responsible for raising our own funds for our fellowship via grants, savings, or from networks of friends and families. • We have an anonymous donor for this evening who will match whatever we raise up to $1500 !!! • Write a check or give cash (we’ll note how much is given and let the anonymous donor know tonight) • Join a KF support lending team • Finally, we hope everyone gets involved with Kiva - start your own Lending Portfolio!
