What is Kiva? • Kiva is a non-profit organisation that provides microloans to individuals who need it most • Individuals from countries where finance is not so readily available • Consequentially the recipients of microfinance are able to be self sufficient, generating an income which will enable them to repay the microloans

  3. Just another finance company? • Unlike other financing companies Kiva business model is to allow users to be the lenders • Example:- • Farmer in Peru requires $100 • Person in the UK can loan $100 through Kiva • Farmer is able to generate an income • Loan is paid

  4. Why is Kiva an NPO Hero? • Kiva leverages the benefits of western society in such a way that individuals on a global scale can also benefit.

  5. Kiva in the UK • Kiva operates in groups called teams • One being Kiva Lending Team: UK • Team UK are all people associated with the UK who collectively lend to individuals highlighted by Kiva. • There are 331 members, who have issued 4073 loans • Collectively they have loaned $154750
