Why I like it • I like this painting for a number of reasons, but mostly because it visually appeals to me. It shows a simpler time and makes you wonder how the boats got there. It shows an earlier time in Paris, and generally is a beautiful piece of art work.
Information • Title: View of Toledo • Artist: El Greco • Date of Composition: 1540 • Artistic Era: Baroque • Other Information: The painting only shows the easternmost portion, but show Toledo from the north, including the cathedral.
Why I like it • This painting is very beautiful. It shows such a picturesque seen of the powerful city of Rome. Even though there are many pictures of the city Rome, this one stands out to me the most. It gives a great representation of what it looked like and shows it as if it were deserted. Overall I like this painting and felt that it meant something to me as soon as I saw it.
Information • Title: The Persistence of Memory • Artist: Salvador Dali • Date of Composition: 1931 • Artistic Era: Modern • Other Information: This is one of Salvador Dali’s most recognizable piece of artwork. It is in the Museum of Modern art in New York City since 1934.
Why I like it • This painting is amazing in so many ways. The melting clocks mean something to me but I don’t know what. The whole setting reminds me of the desert in the roadrunner and coyote TV show. It It looks like all time has stopped in the picture, but overall the whole way the scene looks just makes it looks so picturesque and makes you wonder where it is taking place and why the clocks are melting
