  2. Learning outcomes • You will be able to describe presentation roles in production and institutional background • You will be able to describe presentation roles and techniques in relation to target audiences • You will be able to describe presentation roles instudio and on location

  3. Institutional backgrounds • What is an institution? • Are they all the same? What do you know about the BBC? Do you think this effects the types of presentations or techniques used? • A good examples is to compare and contrast the BBC news programme to channel 5 or sky, how are they different in terms of how they present the news. • You could even look at comparing and contrasting chat shows on Channel 4 and Channel 5.

  4. Lets consider the target audiences • Who are the target audiences for these programs, how would they understand the presentation and their techniques.

  5. Presentation roles on location and in the studio • Presenters often based in the studio especailly for news programs and will do links to outside or location based broadcast. Studio based presenters are often based on a sofa or behind a desk. Outside broadcast are usually standing but often only show a mid shot, accept for some when they are interacting with the audience. • Other programes such as Country File are based on location and have very different visual and verbal techniques. • Chat shows are often in the studio. • Makes a list of the genre and whether you think presenters should be in a studio on location or both?

  6. Radio presentation on location or in a studio • Radio programmes are the same they are often in a studio, but sometimes they go out on location. However you can never see them unless you tune into their podcast. • How different are radio and TV presenters visual and verbal techniques on location or in a studio?
