Cancer Cells • These cells divide uncontrollably • Cancer cells develop when a change occurs in the cell that affects how that cell divides. • When a cell’s DNA is changed, it is known as a mutation.
Causes of cancerous mutations • Some viruses are cancer causing • Environmental agents, such as ultraviolet radiation or cigarette smoke, can cause cell mutations • Some mutations are inherited
