PITTSBURGH DISTRICT LOCKAGE SCHEDULE Monongahela River
PITTSBURGH DISTRICT LOCKAGE SCHEDULE Ohio River
PITTSBURGH DISTRICT LOCKAGE SCHEDULE Allegheny River
Each vessel must contact the Lock to receive instructions. They must identify themselves as competitors. • All Pittsburgh District Locks monitor marine radio Channels 13 and 16. • Each vessel must provide their own bumpers and fenders. • All vessels must follow instructions of Lockmaster and Lock personnel. • The schedule is for the practice day and all three days of the competition.
Things We Know (or think we know): • Trucks and boats will be parked at the Mellon Arena. • Anglers will enter the river at the 18th Street Launch on the South Side. • They will all converge at Point State Park for the “official take off.” • When they return in the afternoon, they will go directly to the 18th Street Launch. • They will check in and go immediately to the Mellon Arena for the Weigh-In. • Commercial and spectator river traffic will not be restricted; spectators will be asked to be respectful and keep an appropriate distance. • PAFBC will provide patrol boats for law enforcement and will transport fish from weigh-in to release boat. • PA BASS Federation will provide volunteers to assist anglers.
Things We Don’t Know (this is a VERY long list!): • What assistance is required for the Junior Championship? • Has use of the Arena lot been confirmed? • Who will provide crowd control on the rivers? And how will they communicate with law enforcement? • What is the railroad schedule and how might it conflict? • Does the Gateway Clipper know about the tournament? • Have all necessary permits been obtained? • What is the shortest route from the Arena to the launch and back?
