International Transport • Freight forwarders in conjunction with customs brokers can generally provide either several or all of these services: • advice on all aspects of international trade transactions, • assistance with or the provision of cargo insurance; • consolidating the cargo of several clients in one consolidation to increase efficiencies and reduce costs; • arranging for all transportation with the relevant carriers; • arranging for export and import customs and quarantine clearances and any required inspections; • the preparation, procurement and distribution of required documentation; • expediting the despatch of goods from the supplier; • tracking the movement of the goods and communicating this to clients; • providing warehousing and distribution services; and • preparing shipment costings.
International Transport • A major benefit of using a freight forwarder is that they are able to consolidate cargo from a number of shippers from one point of origin into one container going to one destination port. • Freight forwarders also offer freight consolidation services for air freight shipments
International Transport • International postage services are designed to provide an efficient, simple and cost-effective service for small and relatively low-value articles. • Express international courier services are designed to move small packages very quickly from origin to destination in the most convenient way for their clients.
International Transport • Dangerous goods can be defined as items or substances that have the potential to cause harm to people, property or the environment. • This area of transport is heavily regulated and severe penalties apply to those fail to comply with these regulations. • Prior to transporting, dangerous goods must be properly declared, packed, marked and labelled in accordance with regulations. • There are several organisations that specialise in all the aspects of the preparation of dangerous goods for transportation.
