  24. 1:00-5:00 Proceed on a walking tour of central Berlin. The guided tour offers many places to visit, with the participants being allowed to choose which sites they want to visit. The tour stops are list below: Main information – This is a free walking tour. It lasts for about 3 and a half hours just show up. The tours start at 11am, 1pm, and 4pm. It starts at the Brandenburg Gate and the tour guides are wearing red New Europe t-shirts. • Main Sites Visited: • PariserPlatz-One of the most well known squares in Berlin. • Brandenburg Gate- A former city gate and symbol of Berlin. Above the gate is the goddess of peace statue. • The Reichstag- German house of parliament built in 1894. • The New Holocaust Memorial- Official name is The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. There is also a museum underneath that can be visited after the tour. • The Site of Hitler’s Bunker- Where Hitler committed suicide on April 30th 1945.

  25. 1:00-5:00 • The Site of Hitler’s Bunker- Where Hitler committed suicide on April 30th 1945. • Luftwaffe HQ- Is an air force building of the Nazi there is a memorial that is painted on the wall. • The Berlin Wall- The wall was dismantled in the weeks after November 9th 1989. • The former SS Headquarters- The buildings that the Gestapo were using. Now a memorial site. • Checkpoint Charlie- Famous crossing point between East and West German. • Gendarmenmarkt- A famous concert house where Symphony Orchestra plays. • Bebelplatz- National Opera House. • The Book Burning Memorial- Memorial of the disaster of 20,000 books that were burned by the Nazis. • Museum Island- Known for several internationally renowned museums. • NeueWache- Today is known as the German Memorial to the Victims of War and Tyranny. • Note: • These are just some of the places that are visited during the walking tour. Also if the tour seems too much for them they can just pick and choose from these famous places and go on their own in their own time.

  26. 5:00-7:00 1) Hard Rock Café 21 Meinekestrasse Berlin 10719 The Café is known as one of Europe’s best places to party. It serves good American food that is reasonably cheap. It is close to the opera and other theaters. The entertainment around the Café also draws in a younger crowed that students normally enjoy.

  27. 5:00-7:00 2) Restaurant Ach Kurfürstendamm 97-98, 10709 Berlin, Germany 030 3249779‎ A cosy Greek restaurant offering traditional cuisine and a wide selection of wines. Known for live music and overall appreciation of Greek culture. Price: Variable with wine.

  28. 5:00-7:00 3) Café Adler 206 Friedrichstrasse Berlin 10969 Mitte This Café is very close to Checkpoint Charlie and the view from the inside looks out to the Wall. The food is relatively cheap and the inside decoration is an experience in itself.

  30. 8:30-9:00 Have a typical German breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast includes a selection of breads, cold meats, cheeses, jams, soft boiled eggs and fruit.

  31. 9:00-12:00 Take the taxi to Museum Island for a cost of 3 Euros. 1) Altes Museum Bodestraße 3, 10178 Mitte, Berlin, Berlin, Germany 0209 05577‎ Hosting a wide selection of artifacts from classical antiquity, the museums is known as world heritgae site in itself. Currently going under restoration to restore the original design to its original glory.

The museum has a collection of Classical, Romantic, Biedermeier, Impressionist and early Modernist artwork. The “Goethe era is represented with landscapes by Jakob Philipp Hackert, portraits by Anton Graff and his contemporaries and works of the German artists working in Rome, known as the Nazarenes: Peter Cornelius, Friedrich Overbeck, Wilhelm Schadow and Philipp Veit.”

  35. 12:00-12:45 Return to the hotel by taxi for lunch and preparation to leave Berlin. Cost of taxi is 3 Euros. German lunches consist of cooked food in contrast with North American lunches. A healthy sampling of cabbage, bread, salads and generous servings of meat can be expected.
