Course eligibility • Higher National Certificate (HNC) • Higher National Diploma (HND) • Degree • Nursing and Midwifery diplomas and degrees • PGDE • Some postgraduate diplomas www.saas.gov.uk
Residence eligibility No change to ordinary residency rules • Ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for the three years immediately before the first day of the academic year of the course (relevant date) • ordinarily resident in Scotland on the same date • If you are not a UK or other EU national, you must have ‘settled status’ in the UK as set out in the Immigration Act 1971 www.saas.gov.uk
Tuition Fees No change to tuition fees • Study in Scotland – we will pay your fees each for eligible students • Study elsewhere in UK – students will need to pay their own fees or can take out a tuition fee loan of up to to £9,000 each year • EU students studying in Scotland eligible to have their fees paid www.saas.gov.uk
How long will students be funded? “Learner journey +1”: • HNC to HND • HNC to Degree • HND to degree progression www.saas.gov.uk
Young Students • Bursary & loan for living costs available to students aged under 25 at start of course • Dependent on household income • Do not have to repay bursary www.saas.gov.uk

Allied Health profession students • Will now receive main student support package • Will also be eligible for means-test placement expenses www.saas.gov.uk
Nursing & Midwifery Students’ Bursary (NMSB) • Free tuition fees • Non income-assessed personal allowance of £6,578 a year • Disabled Students’ Allowance • Placement expenses www.saas.gov.uk
Living cost grants No change to rates or eligibility criteria • DSA • Vacation Grant for Care-leavers • Dependents Allowance • Loan parent grant www.saas.gov.uk
Part-time support • Fees will be pro-rata based on the full-time equivalent rate e.g. student studying 60 credits at degree level (50% of the length of a full time course) will entitled to £910 (50% of £1,820) • Personal income threshold increased to £25,000 www.saas.gov.uk
Postgraduate support • No change to Postgraduate support • Tuition fee loan of up to £3,400 • Only a limited number of courses funded www.saas.gov.uk
