Go see GHS’s Theater Department’s production of, “Little Shop of Horrors;” write a ONE-PAGE ESSAY on WHAT YOU SAW, WHAT YOU LIKED, WHAT YOU LEARNED; keep your ticket stub and staple it to your essay and turn it in ASAP! (See poster on bull. board!) • 1A and 2A: How was the PLAN test? • Please turn-in LATE Persuasive Writing PRE-ASSESSMENT Packets directly to Mrs. G • Jigsaw Group Reading Activity: “Persuasive Essay” in Language Network (pgs. 436-445) • Objective(s): • Listen attentively • Read to determine and analyze: complex characters, the central idea of the text and its development, how the author unfolds an analysis or series of ideas or events, an author’s point of view or cultural experience, the meanings of words or phrases as they are used in a text, author’s choices on the structure of a text and the order of events • Write routinely over extended time frames for a range of tasks, purposes and audiences • Homework: for next class… • Bring your LLN into class next period .

  6. Persuasive Writing Presentation Expectations: 3-5 minute presentation length! Colorful visual aide (NEATLY prepared on plain white paper) Everyone in the group participates by speaking- EXCEPT for the visual aide ELMO operator. Remember you are TEACHING your section to your classmates, they’ve NEVER read it and need the knowledge. Also, each student will have a copy of the textbook in front of them during the presentation, so use it! PRACTICE your speaking roles before you present in our next class (TUESDAY, 12/11)
