Rehabilitation of Steam Turbine and Life Enhancement – Sitra Bahrain Project Scope of work • Major Rehabilitation works for Steam Turbine at Sitra Power Station in Bahrain. • Removal of Turbine auxiliaries and casings. Dismantling of rotor and destructive cutting of blades to be replaced with new ones. Reverse Engineering of Blades & Other Components. • Removal of seals to be replaced with new ones. • In-situ machining of stationary blades. • Dynamic Balancing Works • Boxing up and commissioning of the turbine. Desalination Plants – Refurbishment & Up-Rating • Refurbishment, Life Extension & Upgrading of Desalination Units • Babcock owns patented technologies for up-rating of MSF Distillers, detailed as below which adds approx 10% increase in water production than the original design capacity of the distillers: • Improved Brine Recycle Circuit (IBRC) • The purpose of this invention is to permit to increase the water production by means of an additional brine recycle flow obtained without changing the existing recirculation pumps, switchgears, etc. • The brine recycle flow will increase due to lower pressure drops in the pumping circuit. • Steam Recirculation System (STRS) • The purpose of this invention is to permit increase in the plant efficiency (G.O.R) by means of a steam ejector able to take a portion of the steam produced in a suitable stage back in the system or in the Brine Heater Page 17
