New Jersey Day is celebrate each April 17th.

As a bandleader, Ellington and his fellow musicians play together for more than 50 years. Ellington developed an sound that was very unique. Many of his work’s, such as "In a Sentimental Mood," "Mood Indigo," and "Sophisticated Lady," is still played today.

Buchanan were born to a wealthy family on April 23, 1791, near Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. He served time overseas as a minister to russia and Great Britain. Yankee Stadium is often called "The House That Ruth Built" because Babes popularity made it famous. Yankee Stadium has earned the title "The Home of Champions."

He told the brothers they should open more restaurants. When the brothers asked who would run the knew restaurants, Kroc said, "Well, what about me" Kroc opened his first McDonald's in April 1955. Today there is more than 30,000 McDonald's in more than 115 countries.

  10. As a young man, Theodore Roosevelt spent time hunting in the hill’s of north Dakota. When he was president, Roosevelt showed his love of the environment by creating five national parks. Thats why, after his death, many acres of North dakota land we’re set aside as a national park name after him. The park opened in April 1947. Rhinos have roamed the planet for millions of year but in recent times poachers have hunted the animals to near extinction. When John was eleven, he moved with his family to the united states. They settled on a farm in wisconsin and john soon beginned to help out with the farm chores. When he had free time, he loved to wander with his younger brother threw the nearby woods and these hikes fostered a deep love of nature within him.

Although his vision returned after a month, Muirs short blindness changed his life. He decided to spend more time doing the things that mattered most to him and what he loved most of all were nature. Therefore, he began the first of many walking trips, covering 1,000 miles from indiana to the gulf of mexico.

  17. From the gulf of mexico, Muir continued his journey by ship he sailed to cuba then on to Panama, and finally to california, which became his home. It was not long after his arrival that Muir first hiked in Californias sierra nevada Mountains. He fell in love with they’re striking beauty and would go on to devote the rest of his life to enjoying praising and protecting this land. The Sierra club, founded by Muir and others, continues that work today

As we now approach the end of august 1814, british soldiers have taken over washington. The white house, home to my sister dolley and president james madison, her husband, has been set afire. When dolley herself finally escaped, she carryed little more than the portrait of president washington

  20. dolley has been an inspireing example of bravery and patriotism for our nation. More than ever before, I find myself bursting with pride at her accomplishments. Dolley were already known for her gifts of bringing together politicians and diplomats from opposing sides. How wonderfull it would be if only our conflict with great britain could be resolved at one of dolleys famous social evenings?
