How to Make a PowerPoint Presentation Quick and Easy Directions
Adding slides • Generic slide- on the toolbar, click “Insert,” then “New slide.” • There are different types of pre-formatted slides available • To choose a preformatted slide, click “Format” then “Slide Layout.” Click on the slide you want.
Different PowerPoint Views See icons in the Lower Left corner • Normal View • Slide Sorter view (very useful) • Slide Show (to watch your show) You can also view your show by clicking on “Slide Show,” then “View Show” or the F5 button
Putting in Links to the Internet • Highlight the word or phrase • Click on “Insert,” then “Hyperlink.” Type in your web address. • You can also use the “Insert Hyperlink” icon on the toolbar.
Adding pictures, sounds and clips • You can use the Insert menu on the toolbar to insert pictures, sounds, or clips, or… • You can pick a slide that contains a multimedia icon, and click on the icon.
Designing Slides • Slide design refers to Design Templates, Color Schemes and Animation Schemes • Choose “Slide design” under the “Format” menu • Design Templates and Color Schemes affect all slides • Animation schemes affects text on a slide
Changing Slide Transition • Slide transition affect the way the slide appears on the screen • Change the slide transition under the “Slide Show” menu • Can apply to one or all slides
Custom Animation • Custom animation changes the animation of one specific part of a slide • Highlight the text or picture • Find “Custom animation” under the “Slide Show” menu • Pick an effect
Preview Your Show • Click on the “Slide Show” icon • Or press F5 • Press Escape to exit the show • Press Backspace to go back a slide • Right-click to see these functions & more during a show
Extras • You can print handouts of your presentation. • Click File, then Print, then under “Print What” choose “Handouts” and the number of slides you want on each page (6 is the default). • Remember Ctrl-Z! (Undo)
