“Heed the voice of the words of the Lord.” • (1 Samuel 15:1) • Samuel also said to Saul, "The LORD sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Israel. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the LORD. (NKJV)
God will not fail to keep His word. • (1 Samuel 15:2) • "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. (NKJV)
Remembering Amalek’sCrime Against Israel • (Deuteronomy 25:17-19) "Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you were coming out of Egypt, "how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God. "Therefore it shall be, when the LORD your God has given you rest from your enemies all around, in the land which the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance, that you will blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You shall not forget. (NKJV)
Your Sins Will Find You Out! • Num. 32:23b “…take note, you have sinned against the LORD; and be sure your sin will find you out.” • (Hebrews 10:31) “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
The Proud Will Be Humbled. • (1 Samuel 15:12) • So when Samuel rose early in the morning to meet Saul, it was told Samuel, saying, "Saul went to Carmel, and indeed, he set up a monument for himself; and he has gone on around, passed by, and gone down to Gilgal." (NKJV)
The Source of Saul’s Greatness: • (1 Samuel 10:9) So it was, when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, that God gave him another heart; and all those signs came to pass that day. (NKJV) • (1 Samuel 10:24) And Samuel said to all the people, "Do you see him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?" Saul forgot why God chose him. • (1 Samuel 15:17) • So Samuel said, "When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the LORD anoint you king over Israel? (NKJV)

God is neither pleased with nor fooled by partial obedience • (1 Samuel 15:13) • Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him, "Blessed are you of the LORD! I have performed the commandment of the LORD." (NKJV)
No Private Interpretation • (1 Samuel 15:20) • And Saul said to Samuel, "But I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and gone on the mission on which the LORD sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. (NKJV)
What God says to me, He says to you. • (2 Peter 1:20) • knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, (NKJV) • “…untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.” (2 Pet. 3:16b)
One cannot justify disobedience (sin) before the Lord. • (1 Samuel 15:22-23) Then Samuel said: "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king." (NKJV)
Our Sins Hurt the Lord • (1 Samuel 15:11) • "I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments." And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the LORD all night. (NKJV)
We must obey the Lord in spite of what others think. • (1 Samuel 15:24) • Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. (NKJV)
Regardless how distasteful, the Lord’s commands must be obeyed. • (1 Samuel 15:32-33) Then Samuel said, "Bring Agag king of the Amalekites here to me." So Agag came to him cautiously. And Agag said, "Surely the bitterness of death is past." But Samuel said, "As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women." And Samuel hacked Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal. (NKJV)
When others stray from the truth, we must refuse to follow them. • (1 Samuel 15:25-27) "Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD." But Samuel said to Saul, "I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel." And as Samuel turned around to go away, Saul seized the edge of his robe, and it tore. (NKJV)
When others stray from the truth, we must refuse to follow them. • (Proverbs 1:15) My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; (NKJV) • (Proverbs 4:14) Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil. (NKJV)
Will you follow the Lord exactly as He commands? • (Jn. 8:24) Believe • (Ac. 17:30) Repent • (Mat 10:32-33) Confess • (Ac. 22:16) Be baptized, washing away your sins • (Heb. 5:9) Obeying any other commands that apply to us
