At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: Discuss methods to streamline the submission-to-publication process. Compare and contrast benefits, barriers, and objections to making subsequent submissions easier for authors. Analyze the concept of a uniform style for nursing journals.
The business of publishing is: to get new information, new data, and new ideas out to readers as quickly as possible in order to support the development of even more new information, new data, and new ideas
Do You . . . Worry if you don’t have a good pile of accepted, unpublished papers on hand? Have a publisher who wants you to get rid of your backlog? Publish papers online ahead of print? Publish uncorrected proofs online? Encourage authors of rejected papers to submit to other journals?
Do You . . . Have a negative reaction when you get a paper that has obviously been submitted to another journal? Have an automated referral system? Spend a lot of time on style issues? Sometimes reject papers because the work to get them formatted would be too great? Know what Your Paper Your Way is?
Do you see the eagle? Are you ready for a new perspective?
Backlog Think & Write What is the best thing you have done so far to get papers from submission to publication more quickly? What would help you get rid of your backlog?

Your Paper Your Way Simplified submission process – easier for authors to submit & resubmit papers Focus is on content (for authors, reviewers, &editors) rather than style Style is dealt with when a paper nears acceptance
