To conduct research and community service to improve human welfare.  To carry out trustworthy university management.  To organize the academic community to live Islamic life so they can be good role models for others (uswahkhasanah). To organize mutual cooperation with other parties in the development of science, technology and arts (IPTEKS).

The History of UMM The University of Muhammadiyah Malang was found in 1964 and initiated by the figure of Muhammadiyah Leadership in Malang. At the beginning the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was affiliated with the University of MuhammadiyahJakartaestablishedby YayasanPerguruanTinggiMuhammadiyah Jakarta with the Deed of Notary R.SihojoWongsowidjojo in Jakarta No. 71 on June 19 1963.

Finally the University of Muhammadiyah Malang transformed into the university of choice for students owing to its hard work.UMM was recognized by KoordinatorKopertis Wilayah VII, through his speech at a Graduation of University of Muhammadiyah Malang on July 11 1992, that UMM had turned into a great university and had a prosperous future.

  7. Coorperation UMM has cooperated with many parties, both with national and international institution. The in progress international relations are: Erasmus Mundus, ACICIS, Peace Corps America, BGP Engineering Netherland, AMINEF, AIESEC, EESTEC, USAID, AUSAID, American Corner, Iran Corner, etc.

Appreciation As a leading private university, UMM had got admittance from external parties; those are: A accreditation from BAN-PT (2013), Two Stars from QS Star, KNAPP Accredited, Accredited from MTD Registered Public Accountants, Accredited from NQA Global Assurance, etc. Moreover, the achievements of UMM are: winning Leading Campus Award (AKU) East Java since 2008, winning AKU Kartikakopertis VII East Java as the Leading Campus in East Java, Runner Up of AdiUpayaPuritamaIInd Class (for Rusunawa), Runner Up of ASEAN Energy Award, 18thrank of Indonesia Level at Webometrics (has ever got 8th rank), 5th rank of International Level at Rich Files Content webometrics, 5th rank of Indonesia Level for Repository webometrics, 19th rank of Indonesia 4icu, , rank 22 TesCa-Telkom, etc.  UMM also got an award from USA Government as the Host of Peace Corps USA starting from 2010.
