  3. Recap Questions • Draw a rough map of where the Aztecs lived. • Where is the capital city? • What language did they speak? • When did life begin? • What were pictures called? • Can you write your birthday using Aztec numbers? • Can you name the 3 methods the Aztecs used to write?

  4. Aztec Life - Health • The Aztecs had very good cures for sicknesses • They would use all natural methods of healing • Maybe sometime they would use magic • But what sicknesses do you think they had to deal with?

  5. Aztec Sicknesses Stomach Ache Headache Tooth pains Growths Wounds and Cuts Sore Throat

  6. History and Treatments • They had methods for treating ailments • For their time they were advanced • They had about 100 different medicines • Where did they come from?

  7. They used… • Steam baths to cure many less severe sicknesses • They thought people could sweat out the evil spirits in colds and flu’s • Liquid rubber for ear aches • Splint (wood) for broken legs • Pregnant women would carry ash to scare off spirits

  8. What did they use? • They used a mixture of different herbs found outside • The doctors were very well respected • They didn’t just cure, they prevented too • What did they Aztecs do to stay healthy?

  9. Healthy • As there were no machines, people worked hard • They ate all fresh vegetables • Low fat diet • They anything that crawled, flew, swam
