  1. They’re our Guns and weneed them now! By: Kollin Beyer, Tyler Crochet, Deandre Fontenot

  2. Quotes from the Founding Fathers • "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
George Washington • "The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."
Thomas Pain

  3. Continued… • "To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
Richard Henry Lee

  4. Occurrences involving fire arms saving lives • September 23, 2013: Ex marine carrying gun at Nairobi Mall saved a 100 lives. The soldier was having coffee at the mall when it was attacked by Islamists. The marine had a gun tucked in his waistband and made dozens of trips in and out of the mall bringing men, women and children with him. • February 16, 2007 : A gunman walked into a salt lake city mall with shotgun and opened fire and killed 5 people before an off duty police officer came to the rescue and shot and disarmed the gunman • December 11, 2010: 22-year old Ryan Moore was going to the grocery store when he was mugged by two men and they had a knife to his throat when he struggled loose pulled out his fire arm and shot one of the muggers three times

  5. Occurrences where guns have taken lives • November 2009: Treyvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman while on his way home from the corner store. • July 20, 2012: A masked gunman walks into a local movie theatre and opens fire leaving 12 dead at the ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ • September 2013: Man in Chicago kills 3 people and wounds 23 with an assault rifle

  6. Why citizens should carry fire arms • Protection and Peace of Mind If individuals were allowed to carry concealed weapons given they possess weapon permits mandated by the federal government, then the crime rate would decrease on a national level. This is due to the fact that people would be able to defend themselves in times of peril. Imagine an armed robber who think about holding up a local convenience store. He/she will think twice, because the clerk, as well as other people in the store may be armed and able to defend themselves against this armed robber. • It probably keeps more people alive than it does kill I think that we should be allowed to have guns because it could save a citizen when in danger, but citizens that own guns or buy guns should go through a seminar or meeting to teach them how to use a gun properly. Also we need to put them into a training and more background checks

  7. Continued… • Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Taking Guns away from the citizens who will follow the law is only hurting those who follow the law. At that point the people who don't follow the law which are the ones who want to harm you in the first place will be able to whatever they want due to the fact they don't follow the law. • Guns can be used both for evil and for good. If guns are made illegal to own who do you think is affected by this law? The people who follow the law. If I take them away from the ones who follow the law I'm hurting the ones who are using them correctly and for what they should be used for. Then who would have the guns? The people who do not follow the law would have them. So if I take the guns from those who use them properly and follow the law correctly then I'm giving criminals the upper hand and not allowing those who need to protect themselves and their families. What do we do in case of a foreign invasion, sit there and roll over? NO! The military has lots of troops to protect us but what happens when they run thin or we're caught by surprise? Who steps up then? The people do!

  8. Continued… • safety of the citizens Yes, citizens should be allowed to own guns legally because we need to be able to protect ourselves and the once we love. If guns became illegal crime would skyrocket. Criminals would know that the average law abiding citizen would not have a gun to protect them selves with and would take advantage of that. It's also in the constitution that we have the right to bear arms. Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who are willing to give up liberty for security deserve neither.”
Also just think of all the times when the average citizen had a gun saved the day

  9. Why citizens shouldn’t carry fire arms • Guns are dangerous. As you mother would say, you can put your brains out with one of those things. That said, if guns weren’t dangerous, they wouldn’t be much use. There’s only one good reason to take the risk and carry a gun: the danger of not carrying a gun is greater than the danger of carrying a gun. • If you’re beginning to get the idea that concealed carry is PITA that requires significant commitment, true that. Not shooting someone you shouldn’t shoot in the normal process of storing and handling your weapon is just the half of it. The other half is not shooting the wrong person if you DO use your gun. • Or shooting the right person in the wrong place. Or not shooting the right person soon enough. Or too soon. Or not being able to shoot anyone because you forgot to take the safety off. There are dozens of ways to screw up a gun fight. And lose.

  10. Continued… • America is a violent place. I don't believe they should unless they go through tests and classes to own one and use one. I also think they should make sure the individual is healthy mentally. There are so many murders involving guns. Yes, if everyone was sane then we should have the right to have a gun to protect ourselves but we don't live in that type of world so I'm against guns. • No guns, no violence Gun is necessary and it is an American culture; however, most people nowadays lack awareness and they can't control themselves to use guns in bad purposes. Even if you just want to have guns to protect yourself, your family, many others can use guns to kill you and your family. If we have a law forbidding guns, we can stop them. Everybody can see how many crimes are happening everyday just because of guns, no any individual can stop them except the law and government. Let's do a simple math which countries have more violence: the countries allow citizens own guns or the countries prohibit guns?
