  2. When Started with the Civil War in Iraq – “Kurdish Civil War” in 1994 U.S. bombed air defense sites in southern Iraq on September 3, 1996 – mission was dubbed “Operation Desert Strike”. The operation was over Sept. 5 War ended November 25, 1997 – with an ‘unofficial’ order of cease fire.

  3. What Missile Launch on defense sites in southern Iraq to help defend Kurdish Factions also known as the United Nations “safe haven” from Hussein’s attacks.

  4. Continued “What” USS Laboon and USS Shiloh in conjunction with B-52 bombers escorted by F-14D Tomcats bombed the sites with 27 missiles the next day the followed up with an additional 17 bombs.

  5. Why U.S. was contracted to help defend Kurdish Factions, also known as the United Nations “safe haven”, from Hussein’s attacks. The reason we had to defend them was because of Saddam Hussein’s brutal attacks on the Kurds.

  6. Result Around a month later, Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act law, providing for military assistance to Iraqi opposition groups, including the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) and KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party)
