Where Blitzkrieg was used The Germans used blitzkrieg tactics to startling effect in Poland (1939), France (1940), Russia (1941), and the Ardennes (1944), although technically speaking, true blitzkrieg ala Guderian was used only in the first two campaigns (Guderian would later be sacked for disagreeing with Hitler's decisions in Russia).
War Production Board • The War Production Board was granted supreme authority to direct procurement of materials and industrial production programs
WPB Cont. • The WPB directed conversion of industries from peacetime work to war needs, allocated scarce materials, established priorities in the distribution of materials and services, and prohibited nonessential production
WPB Cont. • They were responsible for building supplies for warfare • Air crafts, automobiles, weapons, etc.
Office of Scientific Research and Development (OSRD) • The efforts of the office of the scientific research and developments gave military a stronger opportunity to win a battle by using bombs • Ex. The Manhattan project, gas, etc. • They combine science with war
Mobilization in the u.s. • The war effort brought about significant changes in the role of women in society as a whole • The government raised taxes which paid for half of the war’s costs and borrowed money in the form of war bonds to cover the rest of the bill
Mobilization in the u.s. Cont. • We were in the great depression, when the U.S. joined the war it created jobs for thousands of people • American economy was coming out of depression

V-2 Rockets • After the war; the Allied powers were able to get all of Germanys blueprints for the V1 & V2 • V-2 were also called "Vengeance Weapon" • The engine was a technical achievement, using high-speed pumps to move large volumes of fuel into the thrust chamber very quickly • The V-2's liquid oxygen and alcohol propellants produced a thrust of 56,000 pounds, giving the rocket a maximum range of 220 miles • The German V-2 of WWII featured the largest and most powerful rocket engine up to that time • The two crucial parts were the thrust chamber and the turbo pump.
Major developments achieved • WW2 major developments involved combat aircraft, power plant, the vital new areas of radar and anti submarines warfare and the substantial efforts with helicopter and guided missiles
What was used in ww2 first • Atomic Bomb, Radar and Sonar, Synthetic Rubber, Jet engines
