  2. ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS FOR THE WORKSHOP • WHAT ARE SOME STRATEGIES USED IN HELPING YOU RESPOND TO DBQ’S? • WHAT ARE SOME STRATEGIES IN DEVELOPING DBQ’S?

WHAT IS THE BIGGER PICTURE FOR DBQ’S? • CITATIONS/INFORMATION OR DATA FROM THE DOCUMENTS – Excerpts taken from the documents to support the essay • RELAVENT OUTSIDE INFORMATION- Information that relates and is pertinent to the documents but is not taken from the documents • SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS/SCAFFOLDING QUESTIONS- Questions under the documents whose answers are found within the document and are designed to “scaffold” the student to relevant outside information • SUPPORTING EVIDENCE – Details, examples, reasons, etc. that support the essay. • ADDRESSES THE TASKS – What is being asked in the essay? • BRAINSTORMING – Coming up with terms, ideas, things, etc. related to the DBQ’S topic/theme and/or tasks

  4. SCAFFOLDING This support could be in the form of clues, hints, reminders, encouragement, etc. THUS THE INTENT OF THE SCAFFOLDING QUESTION AND ITS DOCUMENT IS TO HELP YOU ACCESS RELEVANT OUTSIDE INFORMATION
