  3. POST SECONDARY = COLLEGE READY • CTE CERTIFICATIONS • TECHNICAL TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS • MILITARY CAREER • ASSOCIATE DEGREE (2 year degree) • BACHELOR DEGREE (4 year degree) • GRADUATE DEGREES • Master’s Degree(4 year degree + 2) • Doctoral Degree (Bachelor’s + Master’s + 2 years)

  4. Here’s What You Need to Know! • What is a passing grade? • What is a credit? • What is a transcript? • What is a graduation plan?

  5. High School Graduation 26 Credits INCLUDE: • English: 4 Credits • Mathematics: 3 Credits • Science: 3 Credits • Social Studies: 3 Credits • Physical Education: 1 Credit • Languages Other Than English: 2 Credits • Fine Arts: 1 Credit • Electives: 5 Credits • with an Endorsement

  6. What Graduation plans are available in GISD? • Foundation (Minimum) • Foundation w/Endorsement (Recommended) • Foundation w/Endorsement + Performance Acknowledgement (Distinguished) Choosing a plan will depend on if you want to take AP classes and more demanding classes.

  7. 7th Grade Classes Everyone will have a 7 period day. • 4 core classes All core classes are CR COLLEGE READY COURSES ELA Math Science Social Studies PE/Athletics Which leaves two classes left for electives.

  8. 7th Grade Electivesall electives are year long classes • Choir, Band, Art • Theater Arts • Teen Leadership • Exploring Careers • Principles of Emerging Technology

  9. Obstacles to avoid… • Poor Attendance • Missing Assignments • Loss of Credit • Missed Deadlines • STAAR Failures

  10. Focus on developing… • Good Study Habits • Being Responsible • Making Positive Choices • Becoming Independent • Planning Well • Setting Goals All students will have a 4-year plan in place for their future!
