  1. 10thweek in Ordinary Time Background: this weekend thousands have been campaigning in London as part of the IF Campaign. World leaders have their G8 Summit in Northern Ireland soon and we need them to hear the message! If 1 in 8 people go to bed hungry at night, if parents can’t feed their children, if hunger robs young people of the energy they need to work– our faith calls us to do something! The campaign calls on the world leaders to ensure there is enough food for everyone then global hunger would end!

  2. We will begin by making the sign of the Cross Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen We pause to think of any special intention we want to pray for today. We light our Form Candle for all our prayers today.

Monday 10th June Reader: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, a gentle Father and the God of all consolation, who comforts us in our sorrows, so that we can offer others in the sorrow, the consolation we have received from God.” (St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians:1:3) Together we pray: Lord, we pray for our world leaders; that they may be inspired to tackle the scandal of hunger and make wise and just decisions so that all people may have enough to eat. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Cafod)

  4. Tuesday 11th June – Saint Barnabas Reader: Saint Barnabas was born in Cyprus, became a Christian in Jerusalem soon after the Pentecost, travelled with St Paul on his first missionary journey. He was stoned to death for his belief. Our Cathedral in Nottingham is dedicated to him. Reader: “A great number believed and were converted to the Lord. The church in Jerusalem heard about this and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. There he could see for himself that God had given grace, and this pleased him, and he urged them all to remain faithful to the Lord with heartfelt devotion; for he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith. And a large number of people were won over to the Lord.” (Acts of the Apostles 11:21-23)

  5. Together we pray… Lord may our belief in you grow stronger, so that like Barnabas we may encourage one another, be your witness and show others the way to you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Wednesday 12th June Reader: Jesus said, “The Kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field which someone has found; he hides it again, goes off happy, sells everything he owns and buys the field. (Matthew 14:44) Together we pray: All: Lord we know that life with you is the eternal treasure that we seek. Help us to seek for unity amongst Christians so that we may proclaim better our joy of the Kingdom of God. Amen

  7. Thursday 13th June St Anthony of Padua Reader: Saint Anthony of Padua was born in Lisbon in Portugal. As a priest already he was attracted to the Franciscan simple of way of life and the preaching and so joined the Order of Friars Minor. He preached throughout France and Italy and was the first theologian of the Order. He died in Padua in 1231. He is known as the wonder worker and many people pray to him if they have lost something, as he had an ability to bring back into the faith those who had been lost. Reader: “The Lord will guard you from evil, he will guard your soul. The Lord will guard your coming and going both now and forever.” (Psalm 120:8)

  8. Together we pray… Father, fill us with wonder and transform our life, just as you did with your servant Anthony. Surround us with your love so that we will be generous enough to do your will, whatever it may be. Amen

Friday 14th June Reader: “We are only the earthenware jars that hold this treasure, to make it clear that such an overwhelming power comes from God and not from us.” (St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians 4:7) Together we pray: Father, inspire all people to work for the good of all people in the world. Help us to feed the hungry by creating a just and caring society. Amen

  10. School Prayer Prayer of Saint Benedict We pray Lord, that everything we do may be prompted by your inspiration, so that every prayer and work of ours may begin from you, and be brought by you to completion. Amen Saint Benedict – Pray for us
