Facts • Lee Pearson is a Paralympics horse rider who specialises in dressage. • Lee was born with a disease which limited the movement in his legs and ankles called arthrogryposis multiplex congenita.
Early life At eight, Lee was given riding lessons as an alternative to a BMX bike, but it was only while watching the Atlanta 1996 Paralympics Games on television that he discovered the sport of Para-Equestrian Dressage. Four years later he qualified for the Paralympics games.
What medals has he won He has competed in 28 major competitions in which he has got gold in 27. He has won • 3 gold medals Sidney Paralympics games 2000 • 3 gold medals in Athens Paralympics games 2004 • 3 gold medals Beijing Paralympics games 2008
Achievements He is the only disabled athlete to have won a title at the British National Dressage Championships, which he achieved in 2003. Lee was made an MBE in 2001 and an OBE in 2005 for his achievements in Para-Equestrian Dressage and his contribution to disability sport.He hopes to get a knight hood.
