Topics • Creating a part from within an assembly • Component patterns • Layout sketches • Check interference • Collision detection • Animation
How to create a new part from within the assembly • Insert Component >> New Part
Edit the new part • Right click the part in the feature tree • Choose edit part • The standard part toolbars will appear • Allows you to design ‘around’ other parts • Can make a part just the way you normally would • Can reference features from other parts
Component Patterns • Can make patterns of parts just like patterns of features
Types of patterns • Linear/Circular patterns • Just like for features • Mirror Components • Just like for features, need a mirror plane • Feature-driven component patterns • It makes a pattern of your part based on patterns on other parts
Layout Sketches • Basically – An assembly with just sketches • Make a sketch • Turn it into a ‘Block’ (just like parts) • Add relations between the block. • Watch them work
Interference Detection • Evaluate >> Interference Detection
Collision Detection • Move Components Tool • Select ‘collision detection’ • Just move your component and check for collisions
Animation • Animations are basically different configs of the assembly, but the animation tool gives smooth transitions • Click on the motion study tab on the bottom of the screen
Animation • Put your assembly in a specific state, to use as the starting point. • Then move the slider to a specific time, and reconfigure the part • And repeat
HomeworkProblem 10.1 • Build the entire assembly
