Silver Cord • The purpose of the Silver Cord Program is to encourage students to make a contribution to their community through service/volunteer hours and to recognize those efforts. • The award can be earned by completing 200 hours of approved community service with non-profit organizations. • It is suggested that students complete a minimum of 50 hours of approved service activities per year • More information is available at www.carlisleactivities.org

  9. College & Career Readiness • 80% of all jobs will require some type of postsecondary education • The workforce is more demanding than ever of technical expertise and basic foundational skills • Half of all jobs today require more than a high school diploma but less than a four year degree

Regent Admissions Index • A Regent Admission Index (RAI) score will be calculated for each applicant, based on the following equation: • RAI = (2 x ACT composite score) + (1 x high school rank) + (20 x high school grade point average) + (5 x number of high school courses completed in the core subject areas) *Students must have a score of 245 or higher for admission

Graduation Requirements DISTINGUISHED DIPLOMA • 53 CREDITS • 4 years of English (Composition I, AND Composition II OR Intro to Literature) • 4 years of Math (must include Algebra II or higher) • 4 years of Science (including Chemistry AND Anatomy, AP Physics, or AP Chemistry) • 3 years of Social Studies • 2 years of Foreign Language • Starting with Class Of 2015

  18. Physical Education • Physical Education, Personal Fitness, or Athletic Weights • Classes meet every day for one semester. • State Law requires all students to take a Physical Education course every year of high school.

Schedule Changes • Schedules will only be changed for the following reasons: • Failure in a previous/prerequisite course • Computer or clerical error • Missed graduation requirement • Course conflict • All changes must be completed by the 2nd day of the semester • * All exceptional or unusual circumstance concerning scheduling must be evaluated by the counselor.

  29. Senior Year Plus Online courses can be taken through DMACC. On campus courses can also be taken. Students must be proficient on the Iowa Assessments Students must take any entrance exams required by the college before enrolling

  30. Freshman Final Registration Registration forms due to Mr. Barry by Tuesday, February 25th. Students will register on the computer with the high school counselors February 27th.
