Implementation – Day 1 • After reading To Kill a Mockingbird students will discuss five themes from the book as identified by Mrs. Barnes and Ms. Willis. • Students will locate on Literature Resources from Gale one of the poems drawn at random.
Implementation – Day 2 • Students will be given a review of locating primary documents from the LOC. Today, students will be locating an image matching from the Jim Crowe era or Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 that correspond to the poem and To Kill a Mockingbird. • (Part 1)
Day 2 • Students will take a copy of the original poem and the image that was located and and create a found poem. • Students will be asked to jot notes of their thinking process on yellow memo notes and attach to the back of their found poem.
Day 3 • Students will discuss their found poems in peer groups and then with the whole group.
