  2. Welcome! As a member of my class, you are asked to follow a number of guidelines. I value the following points in my students and in myself: • Integrity • Hard Work • Respect

  3. Integrity:the adherence to moralandethical principles; soundness of moral character;honesty. • HONESTY • Tell me the truth! I can only help you when you let me know what is going on. • I will respect you more for your honesty, which is more valuable than 5 or 10 points on an assignment. • Cheating is a form of lying. • Do your own work and don’t rely on websites or copying other student’s work. • You won’t learn the material and will not be successful on tests.

  4. Hard Work • Complete the assignments. • You will have plenty of notice and detailed instructions about all assignments. • Homework is always written on the left side of the blackboard AND on my website. Check it out! • Incomplete homework is an easy way to fail this course. • Papers and projects • Stay on task with your reading/writing and come to the computer lab prepared! • Printer access will NOT be granted during class time. Papers are expected to be ready at the beginning of your class period, all others are considered late. • Turnitin.com is always expected. • See me in advance with any issues! I cannot help you if you come to me the day the assignment is due.

  5. Respect • Respect yourself and others in the classroom. This time belongs to everyone and I will not tolerate students that take time away from the rest of the class. • Enter the classroom BEFORE the bell rings. I will send you down for a late pass if you are late more than once. • Sit in your assigned seat and quietly take out your materials—books, notebook, pencils/pens. • Backpacks and handbags must be removed from desks. (Cell Phone Issues) • Do not touch anything that does not belong to you, including belongings of other students, the AIR CONDITIONING or FAN. • I will have you removed from this class if this occurs and the fan or air conditioning will be shut off.

  6. This classroom is used by over 175 students during the day, please clean up after yourself! • No water bottles, wrappers, gum, etc should be left on the ground. • Do not write on the desk! • Bathroom breaks are acceptable at the beginning and end of the periods. • If you ask me at any other time, I will say no (but in a nice way). • Please sign out the pass before and after you leave. • If you abuse this privilege, disciplinary actions will be taken.

  7. Class participation is an important component in my class. You MUST raise your hand to ask or answer a question. • Please be respectful toward other students’ ideas and thoughts. • When students are presenting projects etc, please clap for those students. • Do not get up for any reason. Raise your hand if you have a question, a problem, or need a tissue. • Do not get up to throw anything away. Wait for the end of the period.

  8. I will be assigning and/or asking for volunteers to be Student Assistants every two weeks. • This is worth a quiz grade. • Every student will have a turn each marking period. • Rubric/guidelines to come next week • Student assistants will help run the classroom by: • Passing out/collecting assignments and books • Taking notes/working PowerPoint presentations • Informing absent students what they missed • Other tasks.

  9. Skills for Senior Year: This class will be preparation for not only college, but life as well! Activities to include: • SAT/ACT review • Interview/Application tips • Application essay writing • Non-college/Trade School/Apprenticeship info

  10. Please understand that these guidelines help me to provide all students with a clean environment and fair/equal opportunities and expectations for all. • Feel free to speak with me anytime before or after class with personal questions/issues. I am available in the morning by 7:30. • I look forward to getting to know you and having a great year!
