Take Stock with SWOT • Perform an audit of the strengths and weaknesses of your department • Teachers, staff…even students and parents • Who are your leaders (resources) in: • Writing Skills • DBQ / FRQ • Study Skills • Use worksheet or survey (google docs or survey monkey)
What is Your SWOT Situation • Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats • Strengths and Weaknesses are generally internal, Opportunities and Threats are generally external • Try to look both at your perceptions of each as well as perceptions of others outside of the classroom or school. Are those perceptions valid?

Fill out an Idea Worksheet • List a Weakness or Threat • What ideas have you found that may help respond to these? • Who do you need to bring together to discuss the feasibility of this new idea? • What will it take to implement each new idea? • Who will do it? • What is your timeline? • What resources needed?
TALKIN’ TIME • Move into groups • Half will stay seated, half will move • 5-7 minutes • SHARE: What did you learn during the retreat that struck you as positive? • ASK: What are your needs that you are still trying to meet? • HELP: What can you offer the others in the group with their needs? • Use Idea Worksheet and GET CONTACT INFO if you run out of time. • Networking is key to getting the most of out of training
