  2. Determining Tree Class for Lodgepole Pine • Overlay the most recent Forest Cover Inventory or Vegetation Resource Inventory polygon coverage on the cruise plan map

  3. Determining Tree Class for Lodgepole Pine • Identify the projected age or the age class code for each overlaying polygon. • The projected age can be retrieved from the Vegetation Tab in Mapview or from the licensee forest cover mapping system.

  4. Determining Tree Class for Lodgepole Pine • The age of each Interior Lodgepole Pine tree tallied in a plot is the projected age or the corresponding age of the inventory polygon in which the plot is located

  5. What is Map View? • It is a province wide warehouse of spatial and attribute data which has all been registered to a common base.

  6. What is Map View? • The data falls into three categories; • Images, • Spatial data, which can be shown as points, lines or areas on a map, and • Attribute data, which is textual and numeric data associated with a specific point, line or area.

  10. So what is the Maturity class of Lodgepole Pine? • For all plots that fall within Polygon 752 the Pl will be Mature or Tree Class 5 or 7 • And all Lodgepole Pine within plots that fall in Polygon 750 will be Older Immature or Tree Class 1,2 or 3 • Bottom Line = No more boring Pl
