2. Site Sampling Plans Requirement of Total Coliform Rule
Effective September 1, 1992
Plan identifies representative sites in the distribution system for sampling
Subject to DHS/LPA review, revision and approval
3. Site Sampling Plans Plan shall be in the form of a distribution system map, street map, and or system schematic
4. Site Sampling Plans: Map Map must cover the entire water system and include:
Water sources and types (well, spring, intake]
Treatment facilities [filters, chlorination, etc.]
Storage tanks/reservoirs
Pressure reducing stations
Booster Stations
Routine and repeat sampling sites
# of samples required to be collected
Total population served
Procedures for handling notification
5. Did you Forget? Number of routine samples required each month is based upon population or service connections
Population Service Number
Served Connections Samples
25 to 1,000 15 to 400 1
1,001 to 2,500 401 to 890 2
2,501 to 3,300 891 to 1180 3
3,301 to 4,100 1181 to 1460 4
4,101 to 4,900 1461 to 1750 5
> 4,901 See CCR Title 22 Table 64423-A
6. Site Sampling Plans: Routine Sampling Sites Identify representative sites throughout the distribution system
Include locations along dead ends
Do not use the last connection
Do not use the source(s)
Consider repeat sampling locations [upstream & downstream locations]
7. Site Sampling Plans: Routine Sampling Sites Number of representative sites may be greater than the required number of monthly samples
Rotate sampling sites by identifying different locations every month
Provide description of sample site rotation
8. Site Sampling Plans: Routine Sampling Sites List all routine and repeat sampling sites
List the monthly rotation of sites
Rotation scheme should cover a 12-month calendar year
Assumed to be repeated each year thereafter
