  1. CBM-MPD STS consortium – status of activitiesYuri Murin for the Consortium • Engineering of STS module, ladder, station • Cooling system concept and plans for prototyping • Demonstrator development • Sensor development • Radiation hardness certification • Preparations for the in-beam tests • Infrastucture improvement • Networking

  2. Engineering of STS module, ladder, station • Ladders: Engineering of the non-central ladders is accomplished with ANSIS calculations of mechanical properties of CF space forms manufactured of prepregs with different Young modulus (Report) • Modules: See Demonstrator plans • Station: Base technical solutions is defined

  3. Demonstrator development (SE SERTIIE) • Three types of demonstrators inproduction phase • Twomore types are discussed

  4. Cooling system concept and plans for prototyping • ANSYS calculation with cooling of sensors with different gases (Report) • Plans for the first cooling Demonstrator#1

  5. Sensor development within ISTC Project (SINP MSU and RIMST ) • Photomasks for first pilot batch of CBM STS sensors of size 40 • 60 mm2 • First 10 wafers for cabling mock-ups manufactured • Sensors are expected in April 2010

  6. Radiation hardness certification (KRI and SINP MSU) • Irradiation of pad test structures (CIS and RIMST) for adjusting the procedures is accomplished • Good agreement with known data on current degradation for high doses . • Not so good for low doses, but might be it because of mistakes in dose measurements. • Expected behavior for full depletion voltage • We are almost ready for real work!!!

  7. Preparations for the in-beam tests • Ru-106 source + Demonstrator-0B-bench tests (on going) • Slow Control System for in-beam tests (accomplished)

  8. Infrastucture improvement • Procurement of bonding automat for SE SRTIIE by JINR • Continuation of restoration of rooms to house ladder assembling lab at JINR

  9. Networking • Organization of the 3-d Work Meeting in Karelia • Plans for the 4-th Work Meeting in Germany

  10. Urgent task #1 • Simulations of realistic STS with central 4 rad/hard sensors with R-φ topology • Size of the quadrant 60x60 with 1024 strips of each kind

  11. Urgent task #2 • Let’s start to resolve “the station ##1-2 problem” and simulate disc-like stations #1 and #2 built of 24 wedges each

  12. Final remark • We are speeding into engineering phase aware that it will take 4-5 years to raise STS up • Neighboring STS work packages i.e. “the pipe” and “the FEE board” defining the crucial numbers for us are well behind and should be accelerated by all means • Thanks to all for the attention!Acknowledgments to all Consortium members for their contributions!
