IPCA6TRANS Why to translate? • Focus on Information users, not Offices. • The general level of knowledge of English in Spain and Latin-American countries is still not satisfactory. • Structure of industry is mainly concentrated on SMEs. English is used for bussiness, not for Technological Information search. • IPC is still a fundamental information access tool and should be provided in the best way for the users to digest it.
What are from our perspective the main advantages of IPCA6TRANS? • Direct advantages: • Possibility to maintain and keep updated the IPC-Advanced. • Possibility to share the workload with other offices, universities, etc. • Posibility to divide the new groups to be translated among specialized examiners. • Possibility to translate Catchword Index, definitions, etc. • Possibility to translate parts of the IPC A or just the IPC Core.
What are from our perspective the main advantages of IPCA6TRANS? • Collateral effects: • Access to technological background behind the IPC. • Possibility to correct the translation and wording of the translated IPC and receive comments from the users. • Open possibility to access other automation project within the IPC (TACSY, FULTY). • Basis to feed other projects like Automated Translation in the case of Catchword translation. • Involvement of the examiners in the IPC maintenance.
