MEMBERSHIP AND FRAME WORK FOR CLUSTER ACTIVITIES • Cluster members • 14 0rganizations and ILO has recently became the 15th member • AfDB will be invited to join. • Framework for Cluster Activities • Frameworkremains CAADP • Cluster activities are in support of the Strategic and Annual Work Plans of DREA/AUC, NPCA and the RECs.
COORDINATION OF PARTNERS’ INPUT INTO THE CAADP PROCESS • CAADP Task Team of Development Partners (CAADP/DPTT) • The CAADP Partnership Platform Meetings • The Country Agriculture Donor Working Group • Cluster meetings
CAADP IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS AND PROGRESS ACHIEVED • CAADP Launching Event and organization of Country Roundtable meetings: 22 countries and ECOWAS signed a Compact, 6 will sign by April 2011, 10 progressing well and process just started in additional 6 countries. • 18 of the 22 countries with Compact formulated Agricultural Investment Plans (IPs) of which 14 are technically reviewed. • Five African countries received funding under the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme - ETH, Niger, RWA, SIL and TOG - for a total of USD223.5 million.
CLUSTER ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE FRAMEWORK OF CAADP • Agribusiness and Agro-industries Development in Africa • Workshop on Lessons learned on post harvest losses in Africa • Collaboration in agribusiness development in Africa • MDG Africa Thematic Group on Agriculture and Food Security • Ministerial meeting on the follow up to the implementation of the TICAD-IV Yokohama Action Plan • Afro-Arab Ministerial Meeting on Agr Development and Food Security • Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security, Combating Hunger, and Rural Development
CAPACITY STRENGTHENING • Support to the African Union Commission (AUC) • Support to NPCA • Support to Regional Economic Communities
RESULTS AND IMPACTS • Local leadership and ownership of the CAADP process achieved • Development partners’ commitment to the CAADP agenda realized • African knowledge institutions engaged in providing technical support to the CAADP process
WAY FORWARD • AUC/DREA has agreed to chair the Cluster with FAO as the Co-Chair to be supported respectively by NPCA and WFP • Formulation of TYCBP will be Cluster’s priority activity for 2011: formulation process will start soon • Organization of Cluster meetings during important events on pre-identified strategic activities in which the engagement of the Cluster will have an added value • Workshop in March 2011 to discuss the concept note on the TYCBP and deliberate on the way forward • AUC/FAO to invite AfDB to join the Cluster.
