Currently: • Where is Detroit Going? • 2nd Largest investor is Quicken Loans, but is not creating jobs p/ profit margin • Education system one of poorest in N. America • Downtown-Midtown redevelopment trending • Other 130 square miles leftvacant and desolate • Who Is Detroit? • Public Sector = Lambda type values • Policy influenced by elite agenda • Until 2010: • Public Sectoroperatedthroughcorrupt city council • Currenteconomy still industrial, w/ auto industrypresencedecreasing • Sports = profitable
The Great Migration ? • 25% decline in population between 2000-2010 • Majority of workers reside outside of Detroit City Total Population
Unemployment • The early 1950’s produced social inequality in Detroit similar to that of the Deep South. • Detriot’s economy also began declining in the early 1950’s.
