Current and Planned Activities in 2004 Capacity development: • Support to routine HIV monitoring system (Provision of HIV test kits) • Provision of HIV/STD testing equipment Awareness raising: • Workshop on HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment (MoH, AIDS Center, Narcological Center, MoI, MoD) • Support in the World AIDS Day events (Mass-media events, advocacy in prisons)
Outline of activities for 2005: • Immediate Objective 1: Strengthening government’s capacity for responses to HIV/AIDS and STDs • Support in policy implementation • Coordination meetings/round tables • Awareness campaigns for the government (workshops, World AIDS Day events) • Technical assistance: in-country trainings and study tours • Support to routine HIV monitoring system (Provision of HIV test kits)
Outline of activities for 2005: • Immediate Objective 2: Improved Capacity for HIV prevention among IDUs and SWs • Needle/syringe exchange programme targeting IDUs • HIV prevention among SWs • Peer-to-peer education among IDUs and SWs • Access to pre-testing counseling for IDUs and SWs • Development and publication of IEC and intervention materials
Expected Outputs • Government’s capacity to respond to HIV/ AIDS and STDs strengthened through a multi-agency cooperation and awareness campaigns • Capacity of general population and at-risk groups (IDUs & SW) for HIV/AIDS and STDs prevention strengthened through harm reduction programmes, peer education and IECs
