Welcome to Early Years – Acorns Class. This is Sharon, (Acorns Class Teacher) and James (Oakridge Teacher). This is Daisy, our Highly Specialised Teaching Assistant. We have other staff that help us: Sarah, Lucy, Lisa, Lisa, Clare, Cheryl, Jane and Laura.

  1. Welcome to Early Years – Acorns Class

  2. This is Sharon, (Acorns Class Teacher) and James (Oakridge Teacher)

  3. This is Daisy, our Highly Specialised Teaching Assistant

  4. We have other staff that help us: Sarah, Lucy, Lisa, Lisa, Clare, Cheryl, Jane and Laura

  5. Other people we may see in school are Jacqui the Head Teacher and Michelle, one of the Deputies.

  6. Debbie, Anita and Debbie are our Nurses (They help if we get sick or hurt)

  7. We may see Lesley, Fiona, Claire, Karen or Laura in the Office.

  8. We will also see Alison the Early Years Speech and Language Therapist.

  9. Now we are in Acorns Class, we get to wear a uniform to school.

  10. Arriving at school in the morning, we go to the hall, where we meet our teachers.

  11. When we arrive in class • We hang up our coat and bag. • And go to our table to do a workbox task or look at a story, while we wait for everyone to arrive so we can say ‘Good Morning’.

  12. We have different areas in the Acorns class room: a play area, a computer area, a quiet area and work desks.

  13. We also have different areas in Nursery: an outdoor play area, a sensory area, an indoor play area and work/snack time area.

  14. During the day we can use - • Our timetable to see what we are doing and what is next. • If we want anything we can ask, use our PECS book or find a photograph on the Communication Board,

  15. During the day we have a time to say hello, have a snack time, a lunch time & at the end of the day quiet time.

  16. We go to the hall to eat our lunch, Some of us have packed lunch. And some of us have school dinner.

  17. In class we do lots of different activities: • We can play with the car mat and cars. • We can play with a sand tray.

  18. We do painting, use fabric paint and explore clay!

  19. We can explore ‘materials’ trays • Or play with puzzles

  20. We can use the building bricks • And explore small world toys.

  21. We can explore the world around us by playing in our outside area, on the school field or in the Home Corner

  22. You might also find us in the ball pool, having a class camp, using the foot spa or exploring musical instruments

  23. Sometimes we explore Sensory Circuits

  24. And investigate the Hydrotherapy Pool

  25. We also have lessons, we learn to • Recognise and write our name • Say alphabet sounds • Count (to 20) • Explore the world around us • Do lots of SINGING!

  26. We go to other places around school for different activities. We use the Food Tech Room to do cooking. We also visit the Multi- Sensory Room and the Ball Pool.
