Explore Kumbhalgarh Fort and more with Kaya Valley Resort Kumbhalgarh or Kumbhal fort is a Mewar fortress situated on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills and is located in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state in western India. Kumbhalgarh Fort is a World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Built around the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, the Kumbhalgarh Fort exhibits the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. The Kumbhalgarh Fort is among the largest fort complexes in the world. Also being ranked as the second largest fort in India after Chittor Fort, the Kumbhalgarh Fort is hugely famous in the country. Built on a hilltop at the height of 1100 m above sea level on the Aravalli range, the fort of Kumbhalgarh has perimeter walls that extend 36 km, thus making it one of the longest walls in the world. Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is another landmark located in the Rajsamand District of Rajasthan State in western India, which surrounds the Kumbhalgarh fortress and covers an area of 610.528 kms. The sanctuary extends across the Aravalli Range, covering parts of Rajsamand, Udaipur, and Pali districts, and ranges from 500 to 1,300 metres in elevation. It derives its name after the impressive historic Kumbhalgarh Fort. The Kumbhalgarh wildlife sanctuary consists of a 224.890 kms area, which is the core area and a 385.638 kms buffer area. It covers four hill and mountain ranges of the Aravalli: Kumbhalgarh range; Sadri range; Desuri range and the Bokhada range.
