Festivals Bastille Day Celebrations Carnaval de Nice • July 14th • Celebrates when the common people of Paris Stormed the Bastille • Marked the beginning of the French Revolution • Every town and city have parades, fireworks, and party throughout the day and night • New addition to the celebration-giant picnics that take place at various places throughout the country • Beginning of Lent each year leading up to Ash Wednesday • Lasts 5 days • Streets are turned into stages for musicians, dancers, comedians, and singers from all over the world
