  2. Plot The story is about a highschool girl, Hannah, who took her own life because of the pain she was going through caused by problems that exist everywhere in the world right now. Such as bullying, rape etc. Before Hannah commits suicide, she records 13 tapes. Every single tape is dedicated to a specific person who, in their own way, hurt her or betrayed her. We follow Clay Jensen, another highschool student who knew Hannah, in his everyday life trying to get over the fact that he lost a friend while he also tries to “avenge” her by getting the truth out in the world about the bullies and the damage she suffered

Jay Asher confirmed that the book is not a real story but its based on true occasions that happen everyday in every part of the world In 2017 the famous streaming platform Netflix made the story into a TV show. The show got a lot of attention and Netflix released a season 2. At the moment season 3 is almost out.

  4. ; The cast of the film with the famous singer Selena Gomez created a movement called “The Semicolon Project” which is a movement for helping people with anxiety and depression. Why Semicolon? The cast said the following line in an interview. “The author chose not to end his sentence. You are the author and the sentence is your life”. Some people who take part in the movement tattoo a semicolon on their skin as a reminder for beating depression. The movement is very big right now with millions of members. There is no requirement to join. If you are willing to help other people and you want to be in the movement, then you are in.

  5. The story is amazingly well written, very real and extremely emotional. Throughout the story you get to love or hate some characters, feel sad for some others. All in all the book feels real and the story is worth reading. I would recommend the book to everyone as this book is one of my favorites. If you don't like reading perhaps you could watch the show. But do yourself a huge favor and read the book or watch the show because its worth it and it makes you see people and life from a different perspective. Don't forget the tissues thought because it gets really emotional.
