Where is Namibia? Namibia is in southern Africa, the border on the west is the Atlantic Ocean. It has Angola and Zambia the north, Botswana to the east, and South Africa to the south and east.
History of Namibia Its name comes from the Namib Desert, which is thought to be the oldest desert in the world. South Africa occupied Namibia in 1915, after defeating the Germans. It achieved independence in 1990.
