After more than 120 years of partitions by Austria-Hungary,German and Russia, Poland finally regained its Independence in 1918. The foundation of the Second Republic of Poland is considered a key event by many Poles.
The Independence Day was constituted in 1937 and was celebrated only twice before World War II. In the People’s Republic of Poland (PRL) the national holiday was moved to the July 22nd, the day the PKWN Manifesto was issued. In 1989 the Independence Day was moved back to November 11th.
National Independence Day is remebered in our school every year. On this day we prepare a solemn gathering to commemorate the anniversary of Poland's assumption of independent statehood and remember Józef Piłsudski, a Chief of state of the Republic of Poland , who is cosidered largely responsible for regaining our freedom in 1918.
