Leaders- Take Away from this Meeting: • Systemic Change & Collaboration involve Attitude Change • Obligation of North America to the rest of the world. • Anywhere we have a presence is a strong opportunity to move Systemic Change. • What are the relationships for the International Society (Build a Strategic Plan)? • Youth change is systemic change/need to be in communication channels. • Ladies of Charity are not visible and we also have youth groups. (Jr. Ladies of Charity) • Relationships: need to be reestablished
Leaders- Take Away from this Meeting (continued): • Western Province is in a state of reorganization (10 months old with hundreds of years of history) 160 men, engaging in a planning process, vision statement, themes of the GA. • Deepen understanding of the dynamic of Systemic Change • Create enthusiasm for Systemic change • We do good individually, but we do well together.
Ideas to promote collaboration in the Vincentian Family • Leaders gather in a regional area with a Facilitator • Leaders develop a Vision. • Strategic plan for collaboration: could be integrated into the strategic plan for each part of the family. • Establish a commission within the Province for Peace, Justice and Care of the earth. • Working in a secular society we really need the support of each other to talk about God and do God’s work. • DePaul USA is an example of international cooperation/collaboration of the Vincentian Family. Only a year and ½ old. Hope to extend to 5 states in the next few years.
Ideas to promote collaboration in the Vincentian Family (continued) • Because our organizations are different: DC/CM personnel change, not same for SVDP and LOC. Therefore leaders must speak together. • As an outgrowth of the GA we are trying to generate ideas of how to generate enthusiasm for being part of the Vincentian Family. • Is there a way to bring people to the table to do more than to share stories? • Each leader appoint a Vincentian Family animator • VinWest: appointing men to be representatives for the region to other branches (where we are located)
Assistance Needed • Money • Directory of Branches • Communication channels need to be integrated and accountability • Tool for evaluation our ministries to move to Systemic Change • Finding the others in a region English Speaking (Caribbean) • Make sure that formation occurs-- Collaborative formation as well as collaborative evaluation. • The VFC is the group to develop the next steps. • Need written MOU for each group because leadership changes • Theology of Systemic Change.
Next Steps • Both/and. Leadership meet nationally and local meet • Take the initiative and meet as a region • Identify other groups in the region and determine what we can do together, even with small numbers across great distances. Map the groups • Leaders must give the information of where groups are located. • Designate someone who will reach out to others in the region. • Do not talk about Systemic Change as something new.
Next Steps (continued) • Training must be collaborative with different members taking the lead. • Someone must be designated to convene the national Group. (VFC!) • Our individual efforts in training must be expanded to see ourselves as part of a larger family. • Start small (local) and grow large (national) • Use the internet to make connections and reduce costs. • (http://change,vinfamily.org) We have this tool and this can be done.
